Espanyol, a team interested in acquiring the player.
Ramón Terrats is one of the young prospects of the Villarreal squad, initially brought in to strengthen Villarreal B in January 2023. Quique Setién, who was then the coach of Villarreal’s first team, saw the potential in the young Catalan player and gave him the opportunity to debut with the first team, and the rest is history.
Ramón impressed the Cantabrian coach and became a regular in Setién’s plans, participating in up to 16 La Liga matches, starting in 11 of them. Due to his great performance, Villarreal activated the €2.5 million release clause to secure the player’s ownership.
One year after his arrival, in January 2024, Terrats tore the meniscus in his left knee during a training session, which required surgery and kept him away from the pitch for three months. Fortunately, by the end of the season, the Catalan was able to wear the yellow jersey again and feel like a footballer. The fans' excitement for him remains intact, as does his potential and commitment.
His talent is also recognized outside the Castellón club. Espanyol wants to acquire his services and has made an offer to Villarreal for a loan deal for Terrats. Villarreal, for now, has rejected the offer, although Espanyol will persist. Ramón Terrats comes from a family of Espanyol supporters, so the player himself would welcome a move to the Barcelona-based club to get more playing time and develop as a footballer.
