Filip J

Filip Jörgensen is on the verge of a move to Chelsea FC. The London team is reportedly willing to raise their offer to a figure close to €25M.

The summer began with good news for Villarreal fans. Filip Jörgensen extended his contract with Villarreal until 2029 after completing a great season in La Liga.

The goalkeeper made his debut with the first team in the 2020/21 season, but it wasn't until this past season (2023/24) that he secured the starting position. The first matches were tough, and Filip received a lot of criticism. Nevertheless, he managed to bounce back to the point of becoming the goalkeeper with the most saves in La Liga, despite conceding a total of 63 goals.

It's worth noting that Filip hasn't been the least scored-upon goalkeeper in La Liga. The 63 goals conceded in 36 matches (3,240 minutes played) result in an average of 1.75 goals per game. However, when analyzing the conceded goals, it can be observed that 93.65% of those goals were from shots inside the box, where the goalkeeper has less capacity to react and influence.

Other statistics for Filip Jörgensen were:

  • 6 penalties goals
  • 6 clean sheets
  • 78% of total passes completed (62.18% short pass accuracy and 15.88% long pass accuracy)

These numbers at just 22 years old have made Jörgensen one of the gems of the market. The first interested party seemed to be Olympique de Marseille, and now Chelsea FC is coming for him strongly. So much so that, according to several media reports, the London club and Filip Jörgensen have already agreed on personal terms for the transfer, and the Nordic player has started following the English club on social media. The only thing left is to convince Villarreal CF.

Reportedly, Chelsea FC made an initial offer of €20 million, but The Athletic reports they would be willing to increase that offer to £20 million, which would be equivalent to €24 million. Thus, the transfer will be finalized for a figure between €20 and €25 million.

The Villarreal fans have mixed feelings about Jörgensen right now, but most of you agree that if he ultimately leaves the club, it should be for a figure higher than €20 million.
